Songbird Kitchen is a working test kitchen and recipe club, founded in 2024 in a sunny apartment in Miami. We test, we eat, we write down what worked, and we share it here.
The recipes on this site have all been triple tested by our small editorial team. The tools in our shop have all been used in the test kitchen for at least three months before we put our name on them.
In 2023, our founder Marta walked into eight different cookbook publishers with a manuscript called The Test Kitchen at Home. Every one of them said the same thing: the market is crowded. Read the news.
She walked out of the eighth meeting, bought a laptop on the way home, and started publishing the recipes online instead. Two years later, Songbird Kitchen has more readers than any cookbook deal would have brought. The cookbook still sits in a drawer somewhere.
We are still a small team. We answer member emails ourselves. We post a new recipe every Wednesday. We make mistakes and write them down. If you have feedback, we promise we will read every word.
A former pastry chef at two New York restaurants, Marta started Songbird in 2024 after a long sabbatical. She develops most of the desserts and a lot of the breads.
Etienne trained at the Institut Paul Bocuse and ran a bistro in Lyon for nine years. He develops most of the European recipes and is the resident sauce nerd.
Henry is a Seoul born Brooklyn raised line cook turned food photographer. He shoots the recipes you see here and develops most of our Asian fusion section.
Lila keeps the test kitchen running, manages member emails, and develops the comfort food section. She also writes the Sunday newsletter every week.
One hand on the spoon, one eye on the timer, one notebook within reach.

Triple test every recipe in our own kitchen, with three different cooks, before it gets published.
Photograph the dish as it actually came out of the pan. No spray bottles, no glue, no styling tricks.
Answer every member email personally. We are a small team, and we like staying that way.
